Want a fun way to get your guests excited from the beginning of the reception?

The shoe game is the perfect game to get guests involved! Special events are crucial to a weddings timeline, events such as: first dance, mother-groom dance, father-bride dance, bouquet toss, garter toss, and last dance. One event that is becoming more popular is the shoe game! It’s such a fun and inviting way to get your guests involved with your night. While you and your new spouse sit down in chairs back to back, you both will take a shoe from each other's foot. You will be directed by your MC of the night to raise yours or your spouse's shoe if it pertains to yourself or your spouse. This usually takes place in the center of the dancefloor surrounded by guest tables so that everyone gets a clear view of whose shoe is in the air.

You’d be surprised what shoe your spouse raises! This often leads to breaking up the ice in the room, and leaves the guests feeling very comfortable because they were included in such a fun moment of the night. The rest of the evening, it will have everybody talking about the memories they have with each of you and the way they remember some of those questions!

Pro Tip For Timeline:

A lot of couples will choose to do the shoe game directly after cake cutting. When doing so, your guests have time to sit down and enjoy their slice of cake while being entertained at the same time by your love story!

By doing this, you don’t leave your guests pressured to choose between cake and dancing on the dance floor. If they choose cake, they often feel they have to rush to make it back on the dance floor and by doing so, they don’t enjoy the cake that you were so excited to pick out!

So what does the shoe game questionnaire look like, exactly?

Well, it depends on you two! We have a general list that we stick to if that’s what you choose, but we absolutely love customized questions as well! If there’s a quirky memory you remember, throw it in there! If there’s an inside joke your bridal party has of your spouse, see if they remember it the way ya’ll do. This game is only meant to bring ya’ll closer, so choose what makes you happy!
